Thursday Night Hockey
Going back to the hockey well tonight. The Avalanche did not play as well defensively as I expected them too and so the Wild hit the over themselves last night. Other than that we hit on the Flyers win, Giroux looked great in his return and gave the team a huge boost. The Wild covered the puckline easily so all in all a solid night. We now have a nice little 6-2 stretch going.
Boston Bruins (-136, O/U 5.5) @ New York Islanders
Boston has lost both games against the Isles this year by a scores of 1-0 and 4-2. Both those games were in New York as is this one tonight. The Islanders have started to find a groove after a slow start to the season. After Boston's offense scored 7 on Sunday against the Flyers I expect the Isles defense to slow it back down. Both teams rank in the top 5 in GAA this year. Even with Boston down a few defensemen tonight I still like the under in this one. I expect a hard fought, grind it out game in the 3-5 goal range.
Pick: under 5.5
Nashville Predators (-155, O/U 5.5) @ Detroit Red Wings
These teams struggle immensely at scoring goals. Nashville is 29th in GF/G and Detroit is 31st. Detroit is the worst offensive team in the league in just about every offensive category and the under is 15-6 in Detroit games this season. The final between these two on Tuesday was 2-0. Detroit has scored 2 goals or less in their last 5 games. Give me the under here. If you want to make money then bet every under on Detroit games at that record. Give me another Predators win as well.
Picks: Nashville moneyline, under 5.5
Edmonton Oilers (-136, O/U 6.5) @ Vancouver Canucks
Edmonton is the hottest team in hockey right now. 8-2 in their last 10 and they came back from down 3-0 to win against Vancouver on Tuesday night. Connor McDavid is the best player in hockey, you can read more about him in my recent blog here. Vancouver is 2-6-2 in their last 10 and losers of 3 straight. I'm going to stick with the hot team and the best player in hockey tonight.
Pick: Oilers moneyline
Underdog of the night
I hate making any picks regarding Sixers games, but they have a hot Dallas Mavericks team coming into town tonight. You never know what Sixers team is going to show up on a nightly basis and they have lost their last 3 matchups against Dallas. Look at Dallas +168 as a possible play here.
Underdog Picks: 2-1
Overall: 34-24-0
