Should We Laugh or Cry?

What a disappointment this team has been. If you would have told me when the season was starting the Phillies would be 21-29 and 13GB the Mets in the NL East on June 1st I would have called you crazy. Yet that's exactly where we are. After the Phils went 5-2 during their West Coast swing in May and got back to .500 it appeared they may have turned a corner. Since that trip they've gone 4-11, got swept by the Mets, and have lost their last 5 games in pretty miserable fashion. The last two losses were in extra innings. They know baseball doesn't have a points system like hockey does right? You don't get a point for making it to extra innings. Judging by the defensive and base-running intelligence this team shows on a nightly basis, I'm not so sure they're 100% on the rules of the game. To make matters worse:

5th highest payroll in the majors mind you. Not only do the Phillies absolutely suck, they're spending good money to do it. At this point I don't know what's crazier, the fact that the Phillies still suck after all these years and money they've spent, or the fact that us fans actually support this and come into every new season with some level of expectation for the team. At this point I request that the Phillies just lose their next 10 games and just put the final nail in this season's coffin now. That way I don't have to worry about paying any attention to the team for the next 4 months. I was going to make suggestions to improve the team again, but why spin that wheel again? Nothing ever changes and nothing will, it's just the same old Phillies. Here's my favorite highlight from the season so far. Maybe it will make you laugh, maybe you'll cry, may God help us all.
